An Australian PhD student has shown that eating a diet high in vegetables before conception reduces the risk of women giving birth prematurely.

A study undertaken at Rutgers University in New Jersey has shown that older people who have broken their hip, and who don’t have enough vitamin D every day, were less able to walk 30 days after their surgery.
People who were taking enough vitamin D were better at walking.

A new review of previous studies has shown that there is a significantly lower risk of cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease (including stoke) and type 2 diabetes if you eat apples and pears.
Eating apples also reduced BMI (Body-mass Index) in the short-term and reduced cholesterol.
