An Australian PhD student, Dereje G Gete, has shown that eating a diet high in vegetables before conception reduces the risk of women giving birth prematurely.

She looked at the diets of over 3,500 women and the ones who ate more vegetables before conception had lower rate of premature birth.

Her study was part of a much larger study in Australia of over 57,000 women and how various factors affect their health and well-being.
